Huskie Compression Tools
While accepting most standard dies, Huskie compression toolsﾒ lightweight design and easy operation set the standard for field performance. They are equally at home crimping lugs on service entrance connectors or joining two overhead lines. All handheld hydraulic tools feature a two-stage rapid advance pump piston that reduces the number of strokes needed to complete a compression. They tools are available in manual, hydraulic, battery operated and remote head models.

The REC-MDT is a precision battery powered hydraulic tool, designed to install AMPACT tap and stirrup connectors without the use of powder actuated cartridges. The REC-MDT will interchange with any HUSKIE tool 14.4 Volt battery in your tool arsenal.

The proven AMPACT tap “C-member” and wedge design provides a stored energy system that prevents connector degradation and achieves extremely low contact resistance over the “in-service” life of the connector. As thermal cycling causes the conductors to expand and contract, the AMPACT tap spring member flexes and maintains constant contact pressure. With the small AMPACT head mounted on REC-MDT tool, the user can install taps up to 350 kcmil (AWG).

By attaching the large head to the same tool body the tap range is expanded to cover conductors sizes ranging from 477 kcmil to 3500 kcmil. The tool compliments AMPACT connectors’ legendary performance, backed up by over 50 years of satisfactory service. The “green” revolution (cartridgeless tooling) has started and it’s lead by the Huskie REC-MDT tool!

The ATK Long Deepwell Socket was developed for a leading Electric Utility Company that required an extra long deep socket that was extremely light-weight and rated for 350 ft./lbs. of torque to be used in transmission construction.

It was evident that most linemen in the company did not want to carry a variety of bolts around with them from job to job. They were grabbing the longer bolts, shortening them if need be. With this in mind, the company decided to carry just one standard length bolt, thus reducing costs and save valuable warehouse space. On the job, the standard length bolts needed to be secured by a hex or square nut in a manner that minimized the number of hand revolutions that are required for the bolt to be tightened.

In addition, the company worried about their workers
health. In the past, operators had to hand ratchet nuts and the possibility of workers developing carpal tunnel was a great concern. The ATK Long Deepwell Socket was the solution to all their problems!
